Maple Glazed Tofu

Maple Glazed Tofu is a delightful vegan dish that combines the rich sweetness of maple syrup with the savory taste of tofu. This easy recipe makes for a delicious main course or addition to any meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Tofu:

    • Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes.
  2. Make the Glaze:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, olive oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Marinate Tofu:

    • Place the tofu cubes in a shallow dish and pour the glaze over them. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coating.
  4. Cook Tofu:

    • Preheat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Pour any remaining glaze over the tofu during the last minute of cooking.
  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds and serve immediately. Enjoy your Maple Glazed Tofu with rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad.
