Maple Scones

Maple scones are a delightful treat perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack. These scones are light and flaky, with a rich maple flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in Butter:

    • Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the pecans if using.
  4. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine:

    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Shape Dough:

    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
  8. Serve:

    • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your maple scones with a drizzle of additional maple syrup or a dollop of butter.
